Avero Diagnostics Drives Statewide COVID-19 Screening with LigoLab’s Advanced LIS System Platform
Avero Diagnostics (formerly known as Northwest Laboratory) is a fast-growing, all-purpose laboratory medicine operation that has been using LigoLab’s laboratory information system (LIS) software since 2015 and has quickly become an industry leader in all aspects of clinical and pathology lab management.

In May 2020, the Florida Department of Health (DOH) partnered with Avero, LigoLab, and TestDirectly (TestDirectly.com) on a mission to screen the state’s 500,000 long-term care (LTC) residents and employees for COVID-19.
Supported by LigoLab’s medical LIS solutions for laboratory workflow management and direct-to-consumer lab testing, the Florida initiative identified asymptomatic patients to protect senior citizens living in 4,000 facilities in 67 counties throughout the state.

Inside Avero’s Rapid Scale-Up: 190,000 Test Results in Four Weeks with TestDirectly
In just four weeks, Avero transitioned from implementing the TestDirectly direct-to-consumer lab testing platform to processing and delivering 190,000 test results, made available electronically within two to three days of specimen collection. At the same time, the Florida Department of Health leveraged the TestDirectly portal to monitor virus prevalence in real time and coordinate with local county health departments, all in an effort to quickly isolate patients who tested positive.
