A California-based lab that specializes in commercial COVID-19 testing programs with same-day results recently partnered with TestDirectly to help a large residential mortgage company safely bring people back to its offices. The company, which has more than 7,500 employees spread out across 12 locations in six states, needed a testing solution to support on-site business activity at multiple locations and for multiple patient types. The lab delivered on the company’s needs by providing a comprehensive plan that enabled the employer to welcome its employees back to the office safely and responsibly. 

“The company has shown tremendous leadership in the way it has brought people back to its offices,” said the lab’s CEO. “They have taken a holistic approach to COVID-19 by not just testing employees, but by opening up testing to contractors and vendors as well. This has not been an easy task for such a large organization, but together we’ve been able to make it happen by prioritizing employee safety.”  

How the COVID-19 Employee Testing Program Works

The lab piloted its COVID-19 testing program with the employer over two weeks in February of 2021. Since then, the lab has onboarded over 7,000 patients into the program that are eligible for regular testing. The company’s employees, contractors, and vendors are all able to choose whether or not they get tested, and how often they get tested. Any person that wants testing can receive it, regardless of the person’s location. The lab makes testing as easy and hassle-free as possible, to ensure that robust COVID-19 testing continues at all of its locations.   

“COVID-19 testing continues to be a priority for us, especially as more people return to our offices across the country,” said a manager with the large employer. “Because of the nature of our business, we needed a partner that could handle multiple locations and a highly mobile workforce, while also offering convenience, scale, and a quick turnaround time. The lab has delivered on these demands and we couldn’t be happier.”     

Once tested, employees, contractors, and vendors receive notification (by email or SMS text) about their test results in as little as six to eight hours, depending on their testing location. In addition, the swabs used by the lab are softer and less invasive than those used by most labs and can be transported in a dry pouch, without the need for refrigeration or liquid medium.

How TestDirectly Improves the COVID-19 Employee Testing Process

Another aspect that sets the lab apart is its use of TestDirectly to streamline its COVID-19 collection, testing, and reporting processes. 

“Before we discovered LigoLab and the TestDirectly platform, operationalizing multi-location COVID-19 testing for large enterprises was extremely difficult,” added the lab’s CEO. “Legacy software systems had zero flexibility, and to get what we needed from them would’ve taken 10 different systems. The lab’s software partnership with LigoLab and TestDirectly has resulted in increased productivity. With TestDirectly, the lab has been able to process a weekly average of 1,500 specimen samples with a turnaround time of fewer than 24 hours for test results.
