Lab Information Systems—Where the Needs are Greatest

We at LigoLab have been looking forward to the November issue of CAP Today for quite some time. The November issue annually includes the publication’s Laboratory Information System product guide, plus an informative roundtable discussion hosted by CAP Today publisher Bob McGonnagle.

LigoLab CEO Suren Avunjian participated in this year’s roundtable discussion. He commented on what high-throughput COVID labs are doing as they pivot away from the pandemic and repurpose their PCR machines to run a large variety of other molecular tests. He also suggested that a growth area will continue to be direct-to-consumer and direct-to-organizational testing via consumer portals like TestDirectly. 

He also addressed interoperability, or the lack thereof, within the industry and recommended LIS solutions that include an interface engine as a way to avoid the limits that come with using middleware for third-party and instrument interfaces.
