A LigoLab Anniversary: The privately owned and profitable company is celebrating 14 years of business this week
Los Angeles, CA (November 21, 2019) – LigoLab LLC, the leading provider of an innovative laboratory software platform that transforms and modernizes mid-to-large sized Molecular, Clinical and Anatomic Pathology laboratories across the nation, is celebrating 14 years as a privately owned and profitable business this week.
“Fourteen years ago, Edward Kharatian (LigoLab President) and I had an outrageous vision,” said LigoLab CEO Suren Avunjian. “That was to launch a software company that would provide one unified software platform jam-packed with all the tools, functions and modules that a modern medical laboratory could ever dream of.”
LigoLab empowers laboratories to thrive and grow by providing a single software solution that supports and streamlines ALL lab processes. Everything is connected within the LigoLab AP/LIS + RCM platform. There is only one source of truth.
The platform covers the complete life-cycle of a specimen for laboratories, from order entry to remittance. This leads to more profitable labs, more accurate testing, virtually eliminates lost samples, and speeds up the test turn-around time for patients.
An outdated, non-integrated laboratory information system is not an asset, it is a liability. When multiple management systems and modules exist as separate silos - even if interfaced - the full capabilities of an operating system cannot be obtained and the ability of a laboratory to deliver high quality service for patients is compromised.
Kharatian and Avunjian worked together and successfully managed the largest privately held lab in California, Healthline Clinical Laboratories. They spearheaded incredible growth by implementing several cutting edge technologies, but even as they were scaling the business to 20 times its size over the course of seven years, they were doing so with inefficient work-arounds and middleware, because that’s all that existed at the time with legacy LIS solutions.
They knew there had to be a better way. From that understanding came the foundation of LigoLab and its core vision of complete integration. The seeds were planted and when Healthline Clinical Laboratories was sold to LabCorp in 2006, Kharatian and Avunjian bet on themselves and their shared vision.
“We brought on the talented Anthony Oganesian as a partner to head the technical development of the platform and started building our phenomenal team,” continued Avunjian. “Together we turned this dream of one unified platform into a reality in just a little over a decade.”
The final piece of the laboratory puzzle, the Revenue Cycle Management Module, was launched in January of this year, completing the original vision of a completely unified system.
That, however, doesn’t mean LigoLab is done perfecting its platform. Far from it. On average, one to five new features are deployed every day by the LigoLab development team that continues to set big goals and deliver big results for clients like Sonic Healthcare, the largest laboratory operation in the world and a LigoLab partner since 2015.
Kharatian and Avunjian embarked on this unifying journey without any outside investment or liability. What was true 14 years ago remains true today, LigoLab only answers to its customers and its employees.
“We would have never gotten to where we are today without the dedication and colossal efforts of our team and the loyal customers that believed in us and our vision,” concluded Avunjian. We couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years.”
